newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com The Medicine Hat Catholic School Board of Education is hosting a fundraising gala Thursday evening as it recognizes serving the city for 115 years. Tickets are still on sale for the gala held at the Medalta in the Historic Clay District, and will include museum tours, live music from Rob Hudec, a deluxe buffet and a keynote address from Bishop William McGrattan. All funds raised will support the new Holy Trinity Academy K-9 school located beside Monsignor McCoy High School, which is currently under construction. Holy Trinity will feature a 380-seat performing arts theatre, two full-sized gymnasiums and will include specialized classrooms for music, arts, foods, dance, woodworking and science classes. The new educational space is designed to improve programming offered to other students within the division, including those attending neighbouring Monsignor McCoy High School. “Together, over a shared meal and in formal fellowship, we will honour the gift of Catholic education in our city and the many lives it has touched,” reads a press release. The gala begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday with tickets $100 per person, or $800 per table of eight guests. Individual ticket purchasers will receive a $50 charitable tax receipt and the purchaser of a table will receive a $400 tax receipt. Tickets can be purchased online through the school board website, or in person at the Catholic School Board Office. 10
