Medicine Hat News The Medicine Hat Tigers got back in the win column for the first time in November with a win Friday night. Defenceman Kyle Heger scored 1:10 into overtime as the Tigers’ down the Regina Pats 4-3, snapping a four-game losing streak. The Pats opened the scoring in the first with a goal from Caden Brown. He redirected a point shot from Reese Hamilton 1:02 into the game. The Tigers and Liam Ruck responded 4:27 later. He wired a shot that was in and out of the net quick enough to bring some skaters on the ice to question the goal. The twine was tickled and the goal stood with Riley Steen and Tyson Moss recording the assists. Blue liner Jonas Woo scored two minutes later, for his WHL defencemen and team-leading 11th goal of the season. Liam had the puck up at the point and dropped off for Woo who skated in and scored. Markus Ruck had the second assist. Regina tied the game up to end the first with a shot from Zach Moore in the slot. Medicine Hat outshot Regina 17-9 in the first. The Tigers regained a lead early in the second when Liam Ruck found twine 18 seconds into the frame for his second of the contest, sixth of the year. He knocked in a bouncing puck for the lead, Woo had the lone helper. Regina tied the game up on a breakaway with 3:25 left in the second, tying the game up after 40 minutes. The Tigers had a breakaway chance of their own seconds before, turned aside by Regina starter Marek Schlenker before the Pats tied up the game. Neither side scored in the third, with the Tigers killing off a late penalty to preserve the 3-3 score and put themselves in overtime for the third time in the last four games. The Pats held court to start the extra frame before the Tigers turned up ice. The Rucks carried the puck into the Regina end before Markus dished off for a streaking Heger. The Eagan, Minn. product wired home the game winner for his third goal of the season. Jordan Switzer made 22 saves in the win as the Tigers outshot Regina 42-25. Regina narrowly won the face-off battle 33-31, neither team scored on the man advantage with the Tigers 0-2 and Regina 0-3. The Tigers (11-6-2-1) head to Brandon on Saturday to face the Wheat Kings. 14
