The Medicine Hat U12A Mustangs were in tournament action this weekend, taking on U14 teams.
The Mustangs travelled to Rockyford for a four-pack of games starting Friday. They dropped the first game, a back-and-forth affair, losing 9-7 to Calgary South.
Charlie Lowe had a hat trick, Avery Fuller had a goal and two assists, Sloan Loehndorf, Aphten Myram and Aphten Myram each had a goal and an assist. Zayda Dawson was in net for the Mustangs, facing 36 shots.
In the second game, the Mustangs faced Strathmore and led going into the half on a pair of goals from Lowe and a solo tally from Perrault. They lost 7-5. Loehndorf and Perrault sacred in the second half, Myram had two assists and both Lowe and Fuller had assists. Dawson made 30 stops in net.
The Mustangs took on Edmonton on Saturday evening in another close game. They traded goals until the end when the Mustangs found themselves shorthanded going into the last five minutes, falling 9-7.
Myram lit up the scoreboard with three goals and two assists, Lowe had a pair of each. Perrault and Fuller each had a goal and an assist and Ava Lanuk and Dawson each had a helper. Zoe Aarden was in net, facing 36 shots.
They ended the weekend against the host Rockyford Ringers, falling 10-4. Lowe had a goal and an assist, and all three of Myram, Fuller and Perrault found the back of the net. Loehndorf had two helpers, Dawson faced 40 shots in net.
The U12A Mustangs’ next action is Nov. 30 at the Moose Rec Centre when they host Airdrie.
The U12B Mustangs were also in Rockyford for the weekend.
They faced Bowview in their first game, falling 9-1. Maizee Trotter scored the lone Medicine Hat goal.
The Mustangs faced the host Rockyford in their second contest, losing 7-2 with goals coming from Jayla Klaudt and Maizee Trotter. Affiliate player Ridley Trotte and Klaudt each had the assists.
The Mustangs were shutout in their third game, falling to Edmonton. They ended the weekend with a thriller, falling 8-2 to Saskatoon. Eris Davies and Klaudt scored.
The U12B Mustangs are back in action at The Moose on Nov. 29 for a set of league games.
U16
The Medicine Hat U16B Mustangs hosted Bow View 1 for a pair of weekend games at the Moose.
They lost the first game, falling 9-6.
Breanna Lanuk led the way with four goals and one assist. Kassidy Etienne and Jorja Sadler each found the back of the net and all three of Lacey Gibney, Margot Kerr and Emma Pinnell added helpers. Goaltender Jacqueline LeBlanc stood tall through 44 minutes of play.
They rebounded with a 9-4 win in the afternoon. Kerr led the charge offensively, notching a hat trick with two assists. Lanuk matched that production, tallying two goals and three assists. Haven Ward found the net twice and both Gibney and Onyka Funk each scored.
Rielle Forsyth and Jillian Stodalka each picked up an assist, and Emma Pinnell held steady in goal for the full game. The U16B Mustangs head to Lethbridge to compete in the Bridge Battle this weekend.
U14
The U14B Mustangs hosted Calgary South for a pair of games this weekend.
They lost the first contest 9-4. Brinley Cross led the offence with a goal and an assist. Jorja Sadler and Kassidy Etienne each scored and all four of Rielle Forsyth, Charlie Singh, Grace Stirling and Annabelle O’Reilly had assists. Danna Lee Sawchuk was in net.
The Mustangs dropped the second game 10-4. Etienne scored twice, Cross had a goal and an assist, Arika McDowell had a goal, Forsyth had two assists and both Myah Weber and Sadler had helpers. Stirling was in net.
The U14B Mustangs head to Lethbridge for tournament play this weekend.
U10
The U10 Step 3 Mustangs hit the ice for a pair of games in Strathmore on Sunday.
Hudson Kerluke was between the pipes and the Mustangs tallied up the offence in an 11-5 loss. Adelynn McKinley scored twice, Everley Cross and Laila Loehndorf each had a goal and an assist and Brielle St. Laurent found the back of the net. Gabriella O’Reilly had two assists and both Lily Steiner and Ridley Trotter tallied helpers.
They dropped the second game 8-5. McKinley scored twice for the second straight game, adding an assist as well, Hudson Kerluke also scored twice. St. Laurent tallied a solo marker. Both Steiner and O’Reilly had a pair of assists, Cross added a helper. Loehndorf was in net for the contest.
The U10 Step 3 Mustangs look to carry the offence into a tournament in Lethbridge this weekend.
