Helping hands are needed to kickstart the Salvation Army’s iconic fundraiser this year.

The Kettle Campaign kickoff is set for Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. with speeches from the mayor and fire chief at the 13th Avenue Co-op.

“We will have kettles at several locations throughout Medicine Hat, and you’ll be able to identify them because they are red, and most of them have a tap machine attached to the kettle for those who don’t carry cash,” says campaign co-ordinator Shirley Greenfield.

She reminds residents that any money raised here in Medicine Hat will be used to those in need within the city with food, shelter, clothing and emergent situations such as utilities being cut off.

To make that happen however, she’s going to need some help. Greenfield estimates they will need 60 volunteers per day from the opening day on Nov. 14 all the way until Dec. 24, save for Sundays.

Those interested in volunteering are asked to contact Greenfield at 587-253-0740. She will be available to call Monday-Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
