BRANDON — Cameron Allard, Jaxon Jacobson and Joby Baumuller each scored two goals as the Brandon Wheat Kings took a 9-4 win over the Swift Current Broncos on Wednesday in Western Hockey League action. Carter Klippenstein, Nicholas Johnson and Jimmy Egan provided the rest of the offence for Brandon (7-7-1). Filip Ruzicka made 27 saves. Jace McFaul, Stepan Kuryachenkov, Marek Rocak and Caleb Potter scored for Swift Current (6-8-1). Joey Rocha surrendered six goals on 20 shots before exiting at 7:31 of the second period, with Aiden Eskit stopped 16 of the 19 shots he faced in relief. The Wheat Kings came out of the first period with a 4-3 lead before really taking off. Brandon scored four straight goals to make it a five-goal game entering the third period. Beckett Hamilton, Samuel Drancak and Talon Brigley replied for Red Deer (5-10-0-2). — COUGARS 6 WINTERHAWKS 2 PORTLAND, Ore. — Dmitri Yakutsenak and Terik Parascak each had a goal and two assists as the Prince George Cougars defeated the Portland Winterhawks 6-2. Jett Lajoie, Carson Carels, Kayden Lemire and Riley Ashe also scored for Prince George (10-6-0), which scored five unanswered goals to rebound from a 2-1 first-period deficit. Reed Brown and Alex Weiermair scored for Portland (9-7-0). — WARRIORS 6 HITMEN 2 MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Pavel McKenzie scored twice, Mathieu Lajoie had a goal and two assists and the Moose Jaw Warriors earned a 6-2 victory over the Calgary Hitmen. Dominik Pavlik, Lynden Lakovic and Jan Trefny also contributed to the scoring for Moose Jaw (8-8-1), which held 3-0 and 3-2 leads before scoring three unanswered goals to seal the win. Ethan Moore and Kale Dach replied for Calgary (10-4-2). — ROCKETS 6 VEES 2 PENTICTON, B.C. — Tij Iginla had two goals and one assist as the Kelowna Rockets used a four-goal third period to fuel a 6-2 win over the Penticton Vees. Tomas Poletin, Carson Wetsch, Dawson Gerwing and Kayden Longley added the others for Kelowna (6-5-1-1), which was up 2-0 after the first period before entering the third tied 2-2. Tristan Petersen and Louis Wehmann replied for Penticton (8-6-1-2). — RAIDERS 2 HURRICANES 1 LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Jackson Kostiuk scored the eventual winner as the Prince Albert Raiders topped the Lethbridge Hurricanes 2-1. Kostiuk scored at 6:01 of the second period to give Prince Albert (11-0-3) a 2-0 lead, with Brayden Dube opening the scoring at 7:27 of the first period.
