asmith@medicinehatnews.com With their broken limbs and unusual appearance, residents can get to know some of the oldest cottonwoods in the city with the latest Medicine Hat Interpretive Program offering. “This free guided walk will be touring some of these unique trees as we discover methods of tree aging and the environment that creates them,” said park interpreter Erika Derman. Participants will meet at 3 p.m. on Nov. 16 outside the Nature Centre to observe these trees “that boldly display their strength and uphold biodiversity in our prairie ecosystem,” says MHIP. This program is free to attend and no registration is required. For more information those interested are encouraged to call the Nature Line at 403-529-6225, or visit natureline.info. 6
