Blue Jays, Dodgers benches clear in Game 7 of World Series

By Canadian Press on November 1, 2025.

TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers went nose-to-nose in Saturday’s Game 7 of the World Series — literally.

The benches cleared in the bottom of the fourth inning after Dodgers reliever Justin Wrobleski threw two inside pitches on Andrés Giménez before hitting the Jays shortstop with a third.

Giménez gestured to the mound in frustration after getting plunked, and Wrobleski didn’t back down by walking toward home plate with Toronto up 3-1.

That emptied both dugouts and bullpens — Jays closer Trevor Hoffman was particularly hot and had to be restrained — before cooler heads prevailed inside an electric Rogers Centre.

Toronto designated hitter George Springer was up next at the top of the order and blasted a line drive off Wrobleski, much to the crowd’s delight.

The left-hander then struck out Nathan Lukes before getting replaced by Tyler Glasnow, who got Vladimir Guerrero to line out to centre field and end the threat.
