The third quarter saw a decrease in profits for Methanex, as prices for methanol fell from $374 USD per tonne to $345.

Despite the downturn in profits, the Medicine Hat plant saw higher production in the third quarter.

“”This quarter marked a significant milestone as we successfully completed the first full quarter of operations at our newly acquired Beaumont plant and joint venture Natgasoline. Both facilities have been operating safely and reliably since the acquisition and the integration of the new operations into our business is progressing well and according to plan,” said president and CEO Rich Sumner.

“We are focused on the reliable and cost efficient operation of our assets and supply chain to navigate the current macro uncertainty and create long-term value for shareholders.”

The newly acquired plants in Beaumont and Natgasoline produced 239,000 tonnes and 222,000 tonnes of methanol respectively.

Production also jumped in the third quarter due to the addition of the new plants, from 1,621,000 tonnes to 2,212,000 tonnes. This increase in production is expected to produce higher sales in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Methanex also generated $184 million USD in cash from operations, enabling the company to repay $125 million of its Term Loan A. Methanex wrapped the quarter with $413 million in cash.
