Minor Hockey roundup: U18AA Hounds pick up win from pair of home games

The Medicine Hat U18AA Hounds split their weekend slate on home ice.

The Hounds beat the East Kootenay Avalanche 4-2 on Saturday before falling 4-1 to CNHA Black on Sunday.

Zander Ktiching scored twice in Saturday’s win, Mavric Ward and Nixon Kunkel each added goals to round out the scoring. Treyton Wilson made 30 saves.

In the loss Sunday, Kunkel scored the Hounds’ lone goal and Hudson Corbett made 51 saves.

The U18AA Hounds (3-5-0-1) are on the road Sunday.

U17

The U17AAA South East Tigers lost their only game of the weekend, falling 4-3 to the Calgary Flames NWCAA.

Cameron Slater, Illya Khazov and Finn Willerton each scored for the Tigers, Griffin Stenger made 28 saves. The U17AAA Tigers (3-1) have two home games this weekend, hosting the Calgary Royals on Saturday (4:30 p.m.) and the Okotoks Oilers on Sunday (1:30 p.m.), both games at the Hockey Hounds arena.

U16

The U16AA Hounds blew out the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday, winning 11-1.

Everett Ward had four goals with an assist, Beckham Girletz had a goal and three assists, Evander Leupold had three helpers and all three of Maddox Mikkelson, Gage Bowal and Liam Jaspers had a goal and an assist. Decker Knoll, Rhys Greggains and Colin Chisholm each had a goal. Bryden Tschritter made 45 saves.

The U16AA Hounds (2-3) host the West Central Tigers for a pair of games this weekend, Friday (7 p.m.) and Saturday (11:15 a.m.), both at the Hockey Hounds arena.

U15

The U15AA Hounds dropped both of their games this weekend. They lost 7-4 Friday to the Bow Valley Timberwolves before falling 10-3 Saturday to the Lacombe Central Alberta Selects.

Hudson Schutte scored twice in the loss Friday, with Kane Tuchscherer and Kiptyn Head each adding a goal. Maddox Joyal made 40 saves.

Kasper Copeland had a goal and an assist on Saturday, Nash Pahl and Easton Brown added a goal each in the loss. Joyal stopped 27 shots in the loss.

The U15AA Hounds (1-7-0-1) are on the road Saturday.

U13

The U13AAA SE Tigers picked up a pair of weekend wins, beating the Airdrie Jr. Xtreme 10-2 on Saturday before recording a 3-1 win Sunday over the CNHA Green.

Shawn Mrowil had two goals and two assists and Fischer Sprunger had a hat trick in the blowout win Saturday. Willis McLennan had a goal and two assists and all three of Koa Steinkey, Tyson Nguyen and Callaghan Tjeerdema each had a goal and an assist. Nash Dyck had a solo tally and Tate Martin made 27 saves.

In the 3-1 win Sunday, Tjeerdema had two goals and an assist and Benson Motz found the back of the net. Dawson Ressler made 20 saves.

The U13AAA SE Tigers (4-2) are on the road for a pair of games this weekend.

The U13AA Hounds had two games over the weekend, falling 8-3 Friday to the Lethbridge Hurricanes before tying the Golden Suns 5-5 on Sunday.

Hudson Danroth, Cohen McLaren and Stetsen Kreiser each scored in the loss, Asher Nardari made 38 saves.

In the draw on Sunday, Carter Martin had two goals and an assist, Kreiser had a goal and an assist and both McLaren and Austin Schneider had a goal. Treyson Donnelly made 23 saves.

The U13AA Hounds (1-4-0-3) are off until Nov. 8.
