ARCHIE DAFFY
1934 ~ ARCHIE DAFFY ~ 2025 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Archie Daffy on October 20, 2025, at the age of 91 years. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Betty; three children, Randy (Brenda) Daffy, Kim (Dennis) Ulrich and Cindy (Murray) Bertsch; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Archie was predeceased by is parents, Henry and Mary (Heller) Daffy; one daughter, Nancy Czember and one grandson, Chris Czember. Archie was born and raised on the farm Southwest of Schuler where he farmed and raised cattle until moving to Medicine Hat in 2017. To him farming was a passion and not a job as he remained active with it into his 80’s, only having to leave the farm due to health reasons. His other great passion was fishing; be it winter or summer any lake that he could drive to (leaving at 4 a.m.) was fair game, if there was a fish to be caught, he was there trying. Some of his memorable fishing trips were to Great Bear Lake and numerous trips to the BC coast. Thank You to the staff at South Country Village for the care he received over the past few years. At his request no formal funeral service will be held. Condolences may be sent to

ALBERT SAILER
1937 ~ ALBERT SAILER ~ 2025
Albert Friedrick Sailer, with family by his side, peacefully went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in Medicine Hat, at Carmel Hospice St. Joseph’s Home, at the age of 87 years. Albert leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Rose of 67 years, three daughters, Terry (Dwayne) Frey, Melinda (Lawrence) Spencer, and Deborah (Don) Shaw; five grandchildren, Lisa Frey, Jodie (Brad) Matthews, Colin (Courtney Bojey) Lowenberg, Trent Shaw, and Dylan Shaw; and great granddaughter, Peyton Matthews, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Caroline; his brothers, Ray (Fern) Sailer and Edwin (Hilda, Catherine) Sailer; his sisters, Clara (Rudolph) Milbrandt and Pauline (Emery) Mueller; three infant siblings; and his lifelong special friends, Louie Hofer, Ted Lindemann, and Jim Knoblick. Born in Calgary, Alberta, on November 19, 1937, Albert grew up in Carbon, Alberta, until moving with his parents to Medicine Hat in 1945. As a child, he enjoyed playing baseball and raiding gardens. From an early age, Albert dreamed of becoming a Caterpillar operator. He realized this dream by working for various contractors and took great pride in the many basements he excavated in and around Medicine Hat. Albert met his wife, Rose, through his best friend, Louie Hofer, who was dating Rose’s cousin, Jean. The four spent much time together, and Albert always said he loved Rose from the moment he saw her. In his final months, he deeply missed her and spent many hours searching for her, though she was always close by. Rose was a true wife and a steadfast support for Albert until the very end. In 1967, Albert relocated his family to Carmangay, Alberta, where he worked for the County of Vulcan, grading roads throughout the community. During this period, he served as Councillor for the Village of Carmangay and was a member of the Little Bow Hospital Board. Upon returning to Medicine Hat, Albert worked for Art’s Excavating before accepting a position with the City of Medicine Hat as a grader operator. He retired in 2000 after 25 years of dedicated service. Albert was actively involved in his community. He served as President and Board Member of the Elkwater Golf Club and was a representative on the Chinook Village Resident Council. He also took great pleasure in supporting his church, assisting with funerals, and providing maintenance at Pinecrest Baptist Bible Camp. Albert enjoyed curling with friends Louie, Jim, and Ted, golfing, attending Tiger games, and participating in gospel jamborees. He created many fond memories camping in Elkwater and late-night card games with family and friends. Although not a frequent traveler, Albert cherished trips to Florida, Branson, and an Alaskan cruise. He especially loved living on Crestwood Drive, where he spent many nights enjoying a beautiful view of the city and many heavenly sunsets. Albert will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was greatly respected and was known for his sense of humor, storytelling, kindness, compassion, devotion, and willingness to help others. His family is deeply grateful for the time they shared with this special man. The family extends heartfelt thanks for the excellent care and friendship provided by the staff at Southlands Masterpiece, 5 West, 2 North, and Carmel Hospice St. Joseph’s Home.
