Canada’s collegiate golf championship teed off Tuesday at Desert Blume.
The first day of the four-round Canadian colleges championship, hosted by the Medicine Hat College Rattlers and the Blume Golf Club, got underway with cool temperatures.
The Rattlers have eight golfers in the mix with five on the men’s side and three on the women’s. Rattler Wyatt Bishop finished his opening round at even par (72), putting him tied for seventh.
After Day One Rattlers men’s results: Keelan Burzminski is tied for 15th (+2), Hayden King tied for 22nd (+3), Rylan Hodgson is 26th (+5) and Isaac Stehr is 33th (+9).
Thomas Grenier (Champlain St. Lawrence) and Chris Colbert (SAIT) sit tied for first at three-under par.
On the women’s side, Rattlers Ava Bratvold (+22) and Kiara Ressor (+26) finished round one sitting 14th and 15th respectively. Zoe Hodgson (+45) was 21st.
Susan Chen (Humber), Ava Bechard (Humber) and Sofia DeZordo (Champlain St. Lawrence) were tied for first at four over (76).
The Rattlers’ men’s team was tied for fourth after the opening round, a collective +10. The SAIT Trojans lead the way at one under. In the women’s field, the Rattlers are fifth (+48). The Ontario College team 1 leads the women’s at +9.
Round 2 gets underway today at 10:30 a.m., Round 3 is Thursday and the championship wraps up on Friday.
