Advance polling kicks off again today for the municipal election next week.

From today through Saturday, advance polls will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at two locations: the Hockey Hounds Recreation Centre in the city’s north end, and Holy Family Parish in the south. This extended advance poll period aims to give voters more flexibility ahead of election day.

This marks the second opportunity for early voting. The first round of advance polling was Oct. 4, when more than 800 voters cast their ballots 10-plus hours. Chief electoral officer Cardona Arias called the first round of advance voting a success, describing a steady stream of voters throughout the day.

After Oct. 18, the last day to cast ballots will be election day Oct. 20. Polling stations will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters will be able to cast their ballot at any of 10 voting stations within the city – locations can be found at medicinehat.ca.

The City of Medicine Hat reminds voters that all voting stations are fully accessible.

This year’s election boasts the longest ballot in city history, with 39 candidates running for council and six running for mayor. For more information on the candidates, see the Medicine Hat News online election guide at medicinehatnews.com.
