Fire crews battle blaze in Elkwater/Cypress Hill Provincial park

On Friday afternoon at approximately 3 p.m. Cypress Country announced fire crews were at the scene of a fire in the Elkwater/Cypress Hill Provincial Park, south of the townsite.

The fire was contained by responding crews from four county fire stations, Alberta Wildfire air and land crews, and additional wildfire crews from Calgary.

At the time of publication, crews remained on scene to ensure full containment of the fire and say at this time there is no public safety concern.

“We thank all responding crews for their continued efforts,” reads a public announcement posted by Cypress County.
