The Canadian Ski Patrol in Medicine Hat is hosting their 6th annual Ski Swap on Oct. 24 and 25.
On Friday, skiers and snowboarders are invited to trade their old equipment for cash at the South Ride YMCA, where the Ski Swap equipment registration will be open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturday, the equipment sale will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and shoppers can find great deals on used skis, snowboards, poles, boots and other equipment.
This year’s swap is set to be a big one, with over 1,200 ski, snowboard and nordic items for sale.
Previous Ski Swaps have attracted hundreds of Hatters. Organizer John Haley says that approximately 250 people tend to enter the doors within 15 minutes of opening to scope out the best deals.
The Canadian Ski Patrol is a volunteer-based charity organization that offers free first aid and rescue services and facilitates ski safety education across Canada. The Medicine Hat branch provides aid to skiers at Hidden Valley Ski Area in Elkwater park every winter.
All profits from the Ski Swap go back to the Ski Patrol, offsetting the cost for first aid and evacuation training, the purchase of training equipment and other administrative costs.
