Council reimburses Clark for legal fees

Mayor Linnsie Clark has been reimbursed $59,675.68 for legal fees related to the judicial review she launched after being sanctioned by council in 2024.

Mayor Clark took the City of Medicine Hat to court after council voted to sanction her after filing a Code of Conduct complaint.

The large reimbursement sum follows an earlier attempt by the mayor to receive reimbursement for her legal fees totalling $76,017.62 in August, when council voted to reimburse only $5,841.94. A motion to cover the fees related to the judicial review was defeated by a split 3-3 vote at that time.

At the Monday night council meeting, Councillor Allison Knodel voted against the motion, and Councillor Ramona Robins did not cast a vote.
