Minor Hockey Roundup: U18AA Hounds pick up one win, one loss over weekend slate

The U18AA Medicine Hat Hounds split the weekend of home games.

The Hounds were blanked the CRAA Gold 3-0 Saturday before following 4-2 Sunday to the Airdrie Lightning.

Treyton Wilson stopped all 17 shots he faced in Saturday’s win. Jaxon Bohrn scored twice and Jon Jackle added a solo tally. In Sunday’s loss, Evan Marentette and Mavric Ward each scored, Hudson Corbett made 59 saves.

The U18AA Hounds (1-2) host the Foothills Bisons on Friday (7 p.m.) and the CBHA Rangers on Sunday (1:45 p.m.), both games at the Hockey Hounds arena.

U17

The U17AAA South East Tigers beat the Calgary Royals 5-3 on Sunday.

Three skaters had a goal and two assists, with Logan Neuls, Illya Khazov and Dane Friedt collecting three-point nights. Finn Willerton and Rhyder Arnold each scored solo markers. Jake Druar made 46 saves.

The SE Tigers (1-0) host the Calgary Northstars on Saturday (1:45 p.m.) and the Calgary Bulls on Sunday (4:30 p.m.), both games at the Hockey Hounds arena.

U16

The U16AA Hounds beat the Okotoks Oilers 6-3 on Friday. Dylan Dick and Ryder Wulrich each had a goal and an assist and all four of Gage Bowal, Maguire Liefso, Rhys Greggains and Brock Schneider each found the back of the net. Everett Ward had three assists and Bryden Tschritter made 25 saves in the win.

The Hounds (1-0) host the Red Deer Chiefs at the Hockey Hounds arena on Saturday (11:15 a.m.) before facing the Wheatland Warriors on the road Sunday.

U15

The U15AAA SE Tigers dropped their weekend slate, falling 6-1 to the Lethbridge Golden Hawks on Friday before losing to the Calgary Northstars by the same score on Sunday.

Beckam Sprunger scored the lone Medicine Hat goal Friday, Hunter Munro made 38 saves. Sprunger scored the only goal in Sunday’s loss, Hunter Knoll made 29 stops.

The U15AAA Tigers (0-4) host the Airdrie Xtreme on Saturday (4:30 p.m.) at the Hockey Hounds arena.

The U15AA Hounds lost both games this weekend.

They fell 6-5 Saturday to the Okotoks Oilers before getting shutout 4-0 Sunday by the Foothills Bisons. Hunter Kustra and Hudson Schutte each had a goal and an assist and all three of Easton Brown, Nash Korchinski and Bentley Thares all scored. Colson Neigum made 47 saves.

Maddox Joyal made 50 saves in the loss Sunday.

The U15AA Hounds (0-3) are on the road this weekend, facing the East Kootenay Avalanche on Saturday and take on the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Sunday.

U13

The U13AAA SE Tigers lost both games this weekend, falling 7-4 Saturday to the Red Deer Chiefs and they lost 8-2 Sunday to the CBHA Wranglers.

Fischer Sprunger had a hat trick in Saturday’s loss, Koa Steinkey added a solo marker. Dawson Ressler made 35 saves.

In Sunday’s loss, both Sprunger and Callaghan Tjeerdema had a goal and an assist. Tate Martin made 42 saves.

The SE Tigers (1-2) are off until Oct. 19 when they host the Timberwolves at the Hockey Hounds arena.

The U13AA Hounds lost 4-2 Sunday to the West Central Tigers.

Carter Martin had a goal and an assist and Stetsen Krieser added a goal as well. Asher Nardari made 36 saves.

The Hounds (0-2-0-1) host the Central Alberta Selects Saturday (4:15 p.m.) at the Kinplex.
