Veiner Center getting ready to host pair of candidate forums

The Unison at Veiner Centre will host a mayoral candidate forum Tuesday to allow candidates to share views for city policies and plans with members of the public, specifically what is planned to support seniors.

The two-hour mayoral candidate forum will be held Oct. 7 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Veiner Centre’s Craft Room.

Additionally, the Veiner Centre will host a meet and greet for candidates running for city council on Oct. 9.

The meet and greet will run for over an hour at the Bistro beginning at 4:30 p.m., and candidates will be able to share thoughts on how to support the city’s aging population.

Paint Night

Paintergirl is returning to the Veiner Centre Oct. 9 to host a Fall Paint Night targeted at all skill levels.

Participants will be provided with supplies and taught new painting techniques incorporating the theme of the season to paint an inspired piece they can take home.

The three-hour event begins at 6 p.m. in the Craft Room and costs $35 for members, $40 for non-members, and requires registration at the front desk ,or by calling 403-529-8307.

Oktoberfest

To celebrate Oktoberfest the Veiner Bistro is hosting a German themed dinner on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

The menu includes sausage, sauerkraut, garlic fried mushrooms, fried purple cabbage and potato salad and take-away meals are available.

The bistro will be serving the traditional and hearty meal from 4-8 p.m. for $15 per person.

Meet and Mingle

If you’re looking to meet new people, the Veiner Centre will host a two-hour meet & mingle speed dating event on Oct. 15.

The meet & mingle is targeted for residents aged 50 and older and begins at 6:30 p.m. during the Oktoberfest themed dinner, running until 8:30.

There is no cost to attend the event, however participants are asked to register at the Veiner Centre front desk.

Senior Expo

Later this month the Veiner Centre will host an inaugural seniors expo to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The free day-long expo will include more than 60 trade-show booths, information sessions, live entertainment and will include a wide variety of products, services and resources for older adults and their families.

The Senior Expo runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 25, and includes free parking and admission.

There will also be free “swag” available from participating vendors.
