newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com Celio Fritche, president of JBS Foods Canada, was one of 26 Albertans recognized with a 2025 Alberta Immigrant Impact Award yesterday. Originally from Brazil, Fritche has worked for JBS Foods for 20-plus years in several countries before assuming the role of president of the Canadian division. He and his family now reside in Brooks, where the JBS meatpacking facility is located. The award was presented to Albertans born outside Canada who have made notable contributions to their communities. Awards were divided into eight categories. Fritche was one of two winners in the Inclusive Workplaces category. “Congratulations to all the nominees and recipients of this year’s awards. Your commitment to uplifting those around you and making Alberta a better place for everyone is truly commendable. Your passion and dedication inspire us all, and your contributions are deeply valued, appreciated and celebrated,” said Associate Minister of Multiculturalism Muhammad Yaseen in a statement. Immigrants represent more than 20 per cent of Alberta’s population. The government of Alberta has been presenting the award since 2022. 8
