newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com The Medicine Hat Academy of Music and Performance (AMP) is celebrating 10 years in business with a free event Saturday. The event will be hosted in the parking lot at AMP at 552 18th St SW from 2-5 p.m. There will be a bouncy castle, face paint and performances from both Trent Roset, a teacher and co-owner of the academy and the local band The Cruisers. Roset has a program he calls Mr. Trent which caters to preschool-aged children. His performance will open the event, followed by an hour-long performance by The Cruisers. Roset co-owns AMP with his wife, Anne-Marie. The two launched the school in 2015 to introduce young people in Medicine Hat to the joys of music and performance. “I want to make sure I can give back to this community that has given me the opportunity to be a lifelong, full-time musician,” said Roset. “The music school now going into its 10th year, it’s just like a dream come true. “We want to give the community this free event that just says thanks for everything. We’re not going anywhere. We’re going to keep providing a musical environment for little ones for years to come.” 9
