Brooks RCMP are reminding both cyclists and drivers of some important road safety steps following “incidents” where cyclists were struck by vehicles over the past week.

Mounties say none of the collisions resulted in life-threatening injuries, however they want to remind cyclists to always stop, look and ensure drivers see you before entering crosswalks, even when the crosswalk is marked.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and remain alert around crosswalks and look out for cyclists who may be harder to see.

Parents with children riding bicycles are encouraged to talk with them about the rules of the road, road safety and the importance of being visible for drivers.

“Road safety is a shared responsibility, and together we can reduce the risk of serious injury,” reads the public statement.
