Local air ambulance service HALO provided support to the wildfire response in Cypress County over the weekend.

This follows the suspension of HALO’s medical evacuation service pending the results of a review by Emergency Health Services Alberta after a “safety incident” earlier this month.

“HALO provides multi-discipline public safety support to the community, including EMS, fire, police and search and rescue,” said CEO Paul Carolan in a statement to the News on Tuesday.

“In this specific case, the suspension is related directly to our work with Emergency Health Services, which we’re working through, but the helicopter remains available and staffed for all other public safety emergencies.”

Carolan says HALO is not making any additional public comments regarding the nature of the incident or the state of the review at this time.
