Medicine Hat NewsThere will be no obstetrical services available at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital this weekend due to staff shortages.
Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, the largest medical facility in Premier Danielle Smith’s riding, said it ran out of options after an exhaustive search for physicians to provide on-call obstetrics coverage. There will be no obstetrical services available at the Regional Hospital from Friday morning at 8 until Monday morning at 8.
As a result, scheduled inductions and non-stress tests will either be rescheduled or transferred to another facility.
There will be a general practitioner surgeon on-site to perform any emergency c-sections during the disruption.
Expectant mothers are still advised to go to the hospital if needed, where they will be assessed and a care plan will be arranged.
