At least five council candidates are planning to attend a meet and greet event tonight held at Guac Mexi Grill from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Council candidates Christien Ellis, Jodi Faith, Ron Fode, Kelly Allard and Kaleb Orge will be on hand to share information about their platforms and answer voter questions.

Mayor Linnise Clark, who is seeking re-election for mayor, is also planning to attend the two-hour meet and greet.

On Oct. 1 the Prairie Pride Guild of Medicine Hat & District will host a three-hour meet and greet event with mayoral and council candidates. According to the guild, invitations have been sent to candidates and a list of who is expected to attend will be published soon.

As previously reported, candidates running for a seat on council will have an opportunity to debate their platforms during a large forum held by the Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce on Sept. 24.

The format of the forum will allow all candidates to introduce themselves and will be followed with a moderated question and answer period to debate issues, along with closing remarks.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. at the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre, and the event will wrap up at 9 p.m.

On Sept. 26 the Chamber will host a similar four-hour forum for mayoral candidates at the Esplanade beginning at 5 p.m.

In October, the Unison at Veiner Centre will also host two meet and greet events for council and mayoral candidates.

The first event will be held Oct. 7 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Craft Room and will allow aging residents to chat with mayoral candidates and ask them what they have planned to support seniors in the community.

On Oct. 9, council candidates will visit the Veiner Centre Bistro from 4:30-6 p.m. for a similar meet and greet event.

Brooks residents will have the opportunity to meet candidates running in the Oct. 20 election during a four-hour public forum planned for Oct. 1 at Griffin Park Theatre.

The Brooks forum, held by the Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce, will allow residents to ask questions about the issues that matter most in their community at Griffin Park School from 5-9 p.m.
