Jack was born on June 25, 1944, in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, where he was raised and attended school. From an early age, Jack developed a strong work ethic that stayed with him throughout his life.
Jack’s career was as diverse as his talents. In the mid 60’s, he moved to the west coast, from Vancouver to Alaska, building schools before moving back to Maple Creek where he worked on the ranch, built houses and was the maintenance man for the school district in Maple Creek. In 1989, Jack moved to Medicine Hat where he continued his work as a carpenter. In 1998, Jack took on the role of maintenance man at the Medicine Hat Lodge, a job well-suited to his skill set. That same year, he and Loraine moved to 40 Mile Park, where Jack served as park manager. In 2000, they returned to Medicine Hat, where Jack held numerous jobs, proving himself to be a true “Jack of all trades” who could fix or build just about anything.
On February 5, 2000, Jack married his ‘honey bun’, Loraine Pede (nee Haffner) in Bow Island and together they shared 27 years of adventures, including spending winters in Yuma, Arizona, from 2006 to 2010 a time Jack especially cherished; “Yuma Bouno!”. Always together like a bird to a feather.
Outside of work, Jack had many passions. He loved fishing, horses, camping and the simple joys of being outdoors. He enjoyed curling, baseball and hockey and was proud of his grandson’s accomplishments in hockey and equally proud of all of his grandchildren’s achievements in their lives. Known for his easy going nature, Jack valued visiting with friends and spending time with his family most of all.
Animals also held a special place in his heart, and he adored his loyal companions, Dolly dog and Toby cat.
Jack’s life was one of hard work, love, and friendship. He lived life to the fullest and will be truly missed.
The family would like to thank the EMS workers as well as the doctors and nurses on 5 West of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for the care and attention they provided to Jack during his time there.

WILLIAM C. ALBRECHT
1937 – WILLIAM C. ALBRECHT – 2025
It is with profound sadness that we say farewell to William C. Albrecht who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at the age of 88 years. A devoted husband to Janet, a dedicated father and proud grandfather.
Bill was born to parents Gottlieb and Lydia Albrecht on April 20,1937 at Burstall, where he was baptized and confirmed as a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran. He received his grade 1-12 education at Burstall School, and upon completion of grade 12 in 1956, he was fortunate to acquire a job with a survey company in the area, giving him the opportunity for a work experience he loved, on construction of the TransCanada compressor station, located at Burstall and the TCPL expansion bridge spanning across the South Saskatchewan river. Then on to travelling with survey crews to other locations such as Dryden, On, Castlegar, BC and northern Saskatchewan. In 1959 he made the decision to further his education and entered Teachers College at SAIT in Calgary, receiving his diploma in 1960. He began his teaching career at Burstall School in the junior high 7-9 classroom; after three years he was encouraged to accept the principalship position and the high school 10-12 class. He held the positions for 26 years. He received his BE degree majoring in maths & sciences from the University of Saskatchewan at Saskatoon in 1969. His ultimate desire was to have all his students work diligently to achieve their goals and lead successful lives. He retired from Burstall School in 1992. After retirement with the Leader School Unit, he continued to work at his Wiltech Software company he had previously formed in preparation for his retirement. He also did some farming for a few years until he made the decision to lease the land.
Winters were spent travelling with friends on golf trips to the south, and enjoying several cruise ship adventures, the highlight trip being a Trafalgar European Tour and Scotland.
For his entire life, Bill was very ambitious, an achiever and a dedicated community worker. He was a charter member of the Burstall Lions Club, took part in all community activities and held positions on many organizations. He spent many hours on the computer designing the initial Town of Burstall website. He received prestigious awards: the Lions “Melvin Jones” and the Burstall “Citizen of the Year,” He loved life to the fullest; curling, golfing, bowling, snow and water skiing; assisting in coaching the boy’s hockey, socializing with family and friends over his favorite “Pilsner” and wine. He spent hours driving in the countryside checking the crops, capturing photos of wildlife, picking chokecherries in the sandhills, piloting … and crashing his drones, and participating in geocaching as far away as New Mexico. He loved to create, design, build, and was meticulous in all his projects. He was very adamant that the Canadian flag be always flown from the highest point on our home at all times.
Bill was predeceased by an infant daughter; his parents, Gottlieb and Lydia; an infant brother and sister; sisters & brothers in-law, Irene (Ernest Neitz), Anna (Emil Lippert), Doreen (Ed Sparrow), as well as his mother-in law, Martha Ehret.
Bill was comfortably enjoying residing in his home in Burstall until illness limited his quality of life. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet of 65 years; his children, Barry (Charlene) Albrecht, Brent (Shyanne) Albrecht; daughter, Karen Williams (Vern Gall); grandchildren, Tianna (Mario) Panizzon, Brittany (Tomas) Jorgenson, Brandyn Albrecht, Cole (Haley) Albrecht, Carson (McKenna) Albrecht, Ty Albrecht (McKenna), Brett Williams, Jordan & (Violet) Williams, and Emily Williams (Justin); sister; Phyllis Albrech; brother & sister in-law, Reuben & Lorene Ehret; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill loved his family and adored his grandchildren and was so proud of their achievements. He has left us a legacy of hard work and dedication for his family to follow in his foot steps. He will forever be remembered as a most loving and caring husband, father and grandfather and he would be so proud to know that he will be a great-grandfather in March 2026.
Grateful thanks to the Nursing Staff and caregivers at River Ridge for the exceptional care given to Bill during the past difficult time.
The Memorial Service will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 758 – 8th Street SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 1M5, on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, at 11:00 am with Pastor Shane Hein officiating. If unable to attend, family and friends are welcome to participate via livestream by logging on to
