MH Drug Coal Coalition hosting two events to mark International Overdose Awareness Day

In honour of International Overdose Awareness Day, the Medicine Hat Drug Coalition is hosting a pair of events to bring people together for support and solidarity.

Today in the library courtyard starting at 4 p.m., there will be space for support and reflection, as well as an open mic and a series of information booths. Attendees can come together in support of each other and remembrance of those lost to drug toxicity, as well as enjoy a free barbecue.

On Aug. 31, IOAD proper, there will be a smaller event within the library. The EventBrite listing for the event, as those attending are asked to register due to limited space, describes the offering as “a facilitated sharing circle by an Elder to promote healing through sharing. Grief coping resources available and emotional support.”

The Medicine Hat Drug Coalition expressed gratitude to Zucchini Blossom Market & Cafe, McBride’s Bakery and Redhat Co-op for their support for the event.
