Associate Minister of Water and MLA for Taber-Warner, Grant Hunter, will be travelling to Iqaluit, Nunavut to discuss various aquatic challenges.

“We are one of Canada’s environmental leaders, and this meeting is a chance to have meaningful conversations about the common-sense conservation that matters to Albertans,” said Hunter. “From fisheries to the fight against aquatic invasive species, I look forward to working with our neighbours to better protect our waters and economies.”

Canadian Council of Fisheries and Aquaculture Ministers meetings, from Aug. 27-29, will gather federal, provincial and territorial counterparts from across Canada to discuss fisheries, aquatic invasive species and other objectives.

While strengthening relationships with other provinces and territories, Hunter will “promote Alberta’s common-sense approach to reducing the spread of invasive species and strengthening fish populations and habitats,” said the province.

He is expected to return to Alberta on Aug. 30.
