Three-day food festival kicks off Thursday downtown

Local eateries are busy preparing for a three-day “Foodie” festival that starts Thursday at noon in downtown Medicine Hat.

The Downtown Days Food & Beverage Expo will include live music, outdoor sidewalk sales, special events and of course plenty of food from local businesses in the heart of the Hat.

The festival starts at noon Thursday with food and beverage tickets that can be purchased at CORE Association, and wraps up Saturday with live music and beer gardens set up along the 600 block of Third Street.

The festival will also encourage businesses to stay open later throughout the three-day event, similar to the Midnight Madness Festival that takes place a week before Black Friday.

Businesses will also offer coffee sipping and food and beverage sampling.

Friday night there will be a live duelling piano performance and live music form Logan Straub and Tyson Ray Borsboom.

Saturday night there will be four live performances by The Not Quites, Penthouse Trauma, Astrocaster and The Polite Stripes.

The live stage and beer gardens will be open Friday and Saturday evening from 5 p.m. to midnight.
