newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com Two city parks and recreation projects are nearing completion while two more are set to get underway. The city says the rehabilitation project on the Southwest Hill is slated to wrap up by the end of the month and includes a new basketball court and tennis court, as well as lightning upgrades. The East Glen outdoor rink and court rehabilitation project is also nearly wrapped up as crews have upgraded the facility to include a new high-board rink, basketball court, boardwalk and lighting improvements. On Monday, work on the courts in Lions Park began to improve surface drainage, which will help prolong its life. The facility will expand from two multi-use courts to one dedicated tennis court and four dedicated pickleball courts. The project will also include lighting upgrades and should be complete by mid October. Additionally, construction on a pedestrian bridge on the trail network between Gas City Campground and Echo Dale Regional Park is set to begin, according to the city. The location of the bridge may make detours difficult for the duration of the project and is expected to be completed by late September. 9
