The Medicine Hat Public School Division released details on this summer’s My First Ride Program, which prepares first-time school bus riders for the upcoming year.
This is a free event and open to kindergarten students and all other first-time bus riders, giving them a chance to experience riding a school bus before the first day of school.
There is no charge for the event and parents are asked to accompany their children.
Attendees will experience entering and exiting the bus, safely riding in one and also participate in an emergency evacuation.
The program will be offered at two different locations and is offered to all MHPSD students without registration.
The My First Ride program runs Friday, Aug. 22 at Crescent Heights High School parking lot from 9-9:30 a.m., and at Dr. Roy Wilson Learning Centre from noon to 12:30 p.m.
The program is also offered to all Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education students and will take participants roughly an hour to complete.
MHCBE is also hosting the My First Ride program at two locations. The first starts at 9 a.m. on Aug 18 at St. Francis School and then moves to Ecole St. John Paul II School at noon.
