Elkwater Firefighters to take part in annual ‘Fill the Boot’ fundraiser

On Saturday, members of the Elkwater Fire Department will participate in their annual boot drive for Muscular Dystrophy along Main Street.

Every year local crews support Muscular Dystrophy Canada through the “Fill the Boot” campaign that has become the largest national fundraiser for the charity that supports people affected by the neuromuscular disorder.

Elkwater fire crews have been participating in the fundraising event for more than 15 years and can be seen along Main Street drumming up donations that are collected in firefighter boots.

According to the Cypress County local crews raised more than $2,300 during the fundraising event in 2023.

Funds raised will help Muscular Dystrophy Canada provide programs, services, research and advocacy for people affected by the neuromuscular disorder and their families.
