Special council meeting turns up with no public annuncement

The special council meeting called Friday had no public announcement.

The City of Medicine Hat announced Thursday morning the holding of a virtual council meeting with the lone agenda item a closed meeting to discuss personnel matters.

City Council joined the meeting, stream on Microsoft’s Teams, and opened the meeting for promptly joining the closed session.

After an hours wait with roughly 100 residents and city staff watching along on the open link, the meeting was adjourned. No details were provided from the private meeting and no public announcement was made.

The special council meeting comes five days after Medicine Hat Council received a 207-page municipal audit that detailed dysfunction at city hall.

The next scheduled council meeting is Aug. 18.
