College announces new partnership with skill training organizations

By Medicine Hat News on July 11, 2025.

Medicine Hat College announced a new partnership on Thursday with Pathways Adult Learning Foundations, which offers foundation learning opportunities to adult learners in person and online, as well as Alberta Workforce Essential Skills, a non-profit offering workplace skills training and development.

AWES also provides research and curriculum development used to create customized training for employers and organizations. The non-profit says it is dedicated to “exceed” labour market demands by “creating training opportunities through programming focused on skills for success.”

The new collaboration will allow MHC to expand on adult programming through an integration of AWES resources directly into its Foundational Adult Learning Portal, allowing students to access new resources.

Additionally materials and lessons that include improved language, reading, writing, communication, math and problem-solving skills provided by Pathways Adult Learning Foundations, will also be featured through AWES and able to access on the Foundational Adult Learning Portal.

“Making it easier than ever for learners and practitioners across Albert to find the tools they need to thrive,” reads a press release. “We are proud and honoured to collaborate with AWES in shaping the future of adult foundational learning in Alberta, together we are building stronger pathways for every learner.”
