Power line workers in Alberta’s largest city have new contracts providing double-digit raises over the next several years, according to a summary of union bargaining released by the Alberta Jobs ministry.

Two separate contracts negotiated by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local No. 254, cover about 600 workers in total with the City of Calgary and city-owned Enmax corporation.

Those in the city unit will see raises of 3, 3.25 and 3.25 per cent annually in a deal that expires at the end of 2026.

Enmax electricians signed a five-year agreement that provides 5 per cent increases in the first three years, then 4 per cent in each of the final two years.

Also listed in the bargaining summary is a deal for custodians at the Prairie Rose School Division, represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local No. 829.

It mimics other recent settlements for school support workers in the province, providing 3 per cent annual raises over the next four years.
