asmith@medicinehatnews.com The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is looking for citizen scientists to help with this year’s bioblitz, a project to take a look at the wildlife diversity of the city. A bioblitz is a collaborative science project that aims to record as many different species in a designated area as possible during a set window of time, explained park interpreter Genevieve Mathieu. While the event will be a week long, the launch day July 13 will feature three guided walks at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. from outside of the Nature Centre, to help those interested get used to iNaturalist and provide participants with everything they need to contribute to the Medicine Hat Bioblitz project. This project is made possible in part thanks to the Land Stewardship Centre of Canada. Registration is not required to participate, though donations to MHIP’s non-profit organization are always welcome.
