Knights win pair of games, sweeping mid-week doubleheader

The Knights of Columbus Knights took both games of a mid-week doubleheader.

The Knights hosted the Fort Macleod Royals for two games at Athletic Park on a stifling Wednesday night, picking up two wins.

They scored 14 runs in the fourth inning to take the first game 19-5. Liam Cunningham had three hits, three RBIs and three runs scored in the win. Ethan Grad scored three times and tallied three RBIs with a pair of hits. Nixon Davis had five RBIs on two hits, Hudson Ma scored three times with two hits and an RBI.

Ethan Bowey pitched the full game on the mound.

The Knights trailed 8-2 heading into the bottom of the fourth in the second game before scoring nine unanswered runs to win 11-8.

Dylan Nelson had three RBIs, scoring twice with a hit. Kane Bishop had three hits, two RBIs and a run scored. Ryan Ziebart scored three times and had a hit.

James Cole started the game, working two frames with two strikeouts. Nelson picked up the win on the mound with five innings pitched.

Monarchs

The Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs had three weekday games against the Kalispell Lakers, with a pair on Canada Day.

They lost both games on Canada Day, falling 12-7 and 8-5.

In the first game, Matthew Getz had two hits and scored twice with an RBI, Dylan Pidlisny had three hits, adding an RBI and a run scored.

Hayden Anderson started the game working two innings. Pryce Velichko threw 3.1 innings before Nixon Kunkel worked a pair of outs, one being a strikeout. Wade Davies pitched an inning.

In the second game Tuesday, Mason Heintz had two hits with an RBI and all three of Pidlisny, Velichko and Ty Meyer scored once, adding a hit. Parker Hunt had two RBIs.

Cade Moch started the game, pitching five innings with six strikeouts. Andersen finished the game, striking out three batters in two innings.

The Monarchs faced the Lakers on Wednesday, falling 10-2. Dylan Amundson had two RBIs with a hit in the loss. Kaleb Bozek worked five innings with four strikeouts, Asha Frey threw two innings.
