Alexander McKinnon, 38, is among three individuals facing charges after Brooks RCMP discovered them in a stolen truck from the Brooks Fire Hall with methamphetamine.

Last Friday afternoon at approximately 2:20 p.m. officers responded to a request for assistance, and upon arriving at the fire hall, discovered the three occupants in the vehicle.

McKinnon, of no fixed address, has also been charged with possession of stolen property and remained in police custody with a court appearance Wednesday.

The two other suspects have been identified as female residents of Foremost and were both charged with possession of stolen property, but have been released from custody.

The two female suspects are scheduled to appear before courts on Aug. 27.

Found child

A nine-year old boy has been safely reunited with his care providers after he was discovered walking along the Trans-Canada Highway east of Brooks just before 9 p.m. last Friday night.

Police say they received the report and quickly located the young boy, but at the time were unable to immediately determine his residence and who or where his family was.

“RCMP officers and staff worked diligently to identify and locate the family,” reads a statement.

Police say they will not be releasing further details on the incident.

Water rescue

Bassano first responders sprung into action after receiving reports of a stranded male boater and his child on the banks of the Crawling Valley Reservoir on June 24 shortly before unfavourable weather conditions and a large storm reached the region.

Bassano RCMP responded with the assistance of Brooks RCMP, after attempts to rescue the stranded boaters failed, used their water vessel to successfully rescue the man and child, as well as their boat before high winds reached the area.

Minor injury collision

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor following a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 1 east of Tilley on June 27, however the collision remains under investigation.

Police responded to the collision after receiving a report that a vehicle suddenly veered off the highway at approximately 6:30 p.m. and rolled several times into the ditch.

The driver sustained only minor injuries.
