The Medicine Hat U13 Thunder Black wrapped up their provincial play down run on Saturday.
The Thunder lost in a best-of-three with Lethbridge.
They lost the first game 10-3 before rebounding to win 12-11 in a back-and-forth nail-biter. With the series tied, the third and final game saw the Thunder Black fall just short, losing 12-7.
“These girls left everything on the field,” said a team rep. “They fought hard, played with heart, and made their coaches, families, and community proud.”
U11
The Medicine Hat U11 Thunder Red won both of their games on Saturday in convincing fashion.
They beat the Duchess Blue Jays 20-7 before topping the U11 Thunder Black 20-6.
Kyler Geddes-Martin had two hits with two RBIs, scoring twice in the win over Duchess. Khloe Clark score three times, adding two RBIs with a hit and Harlyn Schimpf scored twice, adding two hits and an RBI. Both Presley Morrison and Casey Ristau each recording a pair of hits, scoring once and adding an RBI.
Four pitchers threw one inning for the Thunder, with Leighton Moon (two strikeouts), Charlie Humphrey (three strikeouts), Arya Johnson (two strikeouts) and Morrison (two strikeouts) each working in the circle.
Morrison led the Thunder Red offence in the win over the Thunder Black, scoring twice and adding a pair of hits and RBIs. Kayci Marshall had two hits and two RBIs, scoring once and both Clark and Geddes-Martin scored twice, each adding a hit and an RBI. Marlee Collier scored three times.
They deployed four pitchers again, with Morrison (three strikeouts), Collier (two strikeouts), Marshall (one strikeout) and Macy Gust to the mound.
On the other side of the all-Medicine Hat matchup, Macie Britton and Harper Clark led the U11 Thunder Black offence with a hit, RBI and a run scored each. Scarlet Leahy had a hit and two RBIs and Aphten Myram scored twice, adding a hit.
Harper Clark and Journey Kohls each pitched in the loss, with the latter recording two strikeouts.
U15
The Medicine Hat U15 Thunder Black picked up a pair of weekend wins over the Lethbridge Heat on Saturday.
They won the first game 8-3, led by Breanna Lanuk who had four hits and three RBIs. Jaycee Pope had two hits, with an RBI and a run scored. Ryann Lewandowski scored twice, with a hit and an RBI and Addyson Darr also scored twice, adding a hit.
Lewandowski started the game in the circle, throwing four innings with eight strikeouts. Darr pitched the last three frames with one strikeout.
They beat Lethbridge 19-10 later in the day. Lanuk carried the offence in the slugfest, with four hits, six RBIs and two runs scored. She started the game with a three-run, inside the park home run.
Darr scored four times, adding a pair of hits and an RBI and both Pope and Morgan Gage had a hit with an RBI and a run scored. S Rath scored three times, notching a hit.
Janessa Weber toed the rubber, pitching three innings with three strikeouts. Lewandowski, who also had two hits with an RBI and a run scored, pitched the last two frames with two strikeouts.
U17
The Medicine Hat U17 Thunder played a four-pack of games over the weekend.
They kick things off with a 3-2 win Saturday over the U16 Sparks Salter.
Charli Allinson had two hits with an RBI and a run scored, Gracie Eddy had a hit with an RBI and a run scored in the win.
Adriene Campbell threw a complete game, working six innings with 13 strikeouts.
They then lost 16-7 to the LC Thunder.
Taryn Brost and Sydney Thompson each had a hit, an RBI and a sun scored, Peightyn Williams drove in four RBIs with one hit, scoring once.
Brost started the game in the circle, pitching two innings with two strikeouts. Allie Evans worked an inning with one strikeout.
They were shutout 17-0 later in the day Saturday. Kendall Smith had the Thunder’s lone hit in the loss. Campbell started the game, throwing three innings with three strikeouts. Smith also worked an inning.
In a Sunday rematch with the Sparks Slater, the Thunder lost 8-0.
Allinson had two hits and Eddy added a hit as well.
Campbell worked all five innings on the mound, recording five strikeouts.
