The shutdown of a crosstown corridor should be completed today as crews prepare to reopen a section of Division Avenue that was rebuilt this spring.

Most of the work to add trailway, replace road surface and rework and mark a string on non-aligned intersection took place in 2024, but four blocks were held over and completed this spring.

Minor cleanup and some work adjacent to the roadway should continue for several days, but lane closures will likely end between Seventh and 11th Avenue.

The city will take up the final leg of the project – connecting trailway along Old Cemetery Road leading to the Heritage Trail Network near College Avenue after July 1.

That delay will avoid disruption of Canada Day festivities at nearby Kin Coulee Park and at the Inland Skate Park. Trail rehabilitation is set to be complete by late July 2025.

The entire project, including the replacement of underground water, sewer and gas lines, was budgeted to cost $5 million.
