MH Tennis Club hosts South Country Co-op Doubles Showdown

The Medicine Hat Tennis Club hosted the South Country Co-op Doubles Showdown this past weekend.

The local club benefited from a weekend of good weather, allowing for the play to reach peak level.

On the the ladies side of the draw, Lauren Danroth and Dannan McElroy-O’Driscoll captured the open championship with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Coralee Riehl and Emilee Krushel. Tennis Club general manger Calvin Heller says the score was not indicative of the level of play in the match, with many of the games going to deuce.

The Women’s B Side was won by Dawn Olson and Eryn Comeau, they defeated Carla Thorogood and Lily Laurent 6-2, 6-1.

Richard and Brent Meyer came back from a set down to beat the top seeded team of Craig and Niall Weich in the Mens Open A Side, 2-6, 6-6, 6-2.

The Mens B Side was won by Riley Danroth and Jordan Schibler, the team known as Thunder and Lightning, defeated The father son duo of Mike and Messele Fentabil, 6-1, 6-2.

Brothers Theron and Lincoln Bensler def. Vlad Khazov and Roman Bielyi (6-4, 6-4) to capture the Mens Intermediate division.
