newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com To prevent future conflicts between pet owners with their pups off leash and others trying to enjoy public spaces, Medicine Hat’s Municipal Bylaw service is reminding dog walkers to use designated off-leash areas that do not include school yards or sports fields. “Residents told us how important our natural areas and parks are to our community, including our environmental reserves and wildlife habitats,” reads a statement from the city. According to the statement, the city is looking for feedback from the public on how to better manage and identify off-leash areas “in a way which meets the needs of both dog owners and others using our trails and outdoor spaces.” Dog owners looking to let their furry friends frolic freely are also encouraged to visit both the Saratoga and WestVue dog parks that offer fully-fenced spaces with potable water. Both parks are open to the public daily, 7 a.m to 11 p.m. 7
