Edmonton pair arrested for dealing drugs in the Hat

A wanted man and woman from Edmonton were arrested and charged with dealing drugs in Medicine Hat on Thursday afternoon, local police reported.

The arrests happened after a member for the Medicine Hat Police Service said they observed drug paraphernalia tossed from a vehicle at the 600 Block of Kingsway Avenue at about 3:30 p.m.

A vehicle stop revealed an unnamed man and were both the subject of arrest warrants, and a further search of the vehicle allegedly found amounts of fentanyl and methamphetamine, drug trafficking materials and scales, along with a can of bear spray, a metal baton, and a quantity of cash.

The 36-year old man and 36-year-old woman have been charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, a weapon dangerous, and the proceeds of crime.

Army clears Taber museum

Canadian Army personnel removed a grenade from a museum and recreation centre in Taber on Thursday afternoon, ending a tense morning that saw the facility cordoned off for the morning.

Taber Police service stated that were called to the Taber Interpretive Centre after staff reported they had discovered an old grenade that was apparently still in tact.

At noon, the municipal police said the grenade had been removed and the Aquafun centre would be reopened in the afternoon.
