Cypress County Fire responded to a massive structure fire near Eagle Butte Road on Sunday evening just past 7 p.m.
Station 1 responded with two engines, one water tender and a wildland fire apparatus, fire chief Jason Linton told the News on Monday, but additional support was requested by the Incident Commander upon arriving on scene.
Three engines from Stations 2 and 4 were brought in, along with additional water tenders from Station 4 and CFB Suffield. Mutual aid was provided by CFB Suffield, which supplied a water tender, and the City of Brooks Fire Department, which contributed a light tower to ensure fire crews could work safely throughout the night.
An adjacent grass fire was caused by embers from the structure fire, but was quickly contained by landowners and extinguished by the wildland fire unit.
Emergency Services also responded to a medical emergency in the Dunmore area during the event, with Station 4 responding to ensure continued coverage for other emergencies in the region.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Fire Commissioner’s Office as of writing, said Linton.
Cypress County Fire Services would like to thank all responding agencies and local landowners for their co-operation and support in managing this incident.
