Medicine Hat Tennis Club hosts open singles tourney

The Medicine Hat Tennis Club hosted its open singles tournament over the weekend.

The tournament was held over three days with 40 entries.

In the men’s open division final, Calvin Heller defeated Mason Heller 6-4, 6-2.

Dave Reinheller took the men’s consolation, defeating Messele Fentabil 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

The men’s intermediate division champ is Josh Gazdag who defeated David Schnare 7-5, 6-2.

Zach Day took the men’s intermediate B division, beating Darryl Giesbrecht 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.

The men’s intermediate C division was won by Cooper Danroth, defeating Kevin Dollimont 6-4, 7-5.

Aarren Dieok defeated Lauren Danroth 6-3, 6-3 to win the women’s open division.

The women’s consolation went to Coralee Riehl, defeating Loni Nickel 6-2, 5-7, 6-0.

Next up for the club is the Tim Hortons Junior Tournament on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.

The Tennis Club will also host the South Country Co-op Doubles Showdown, running June 12-15.
