The Prairie Pride Guild of Medicine Hat & District is hosting another bridge cleanup to give back to the community on a special day for LGBTQ+ individuals.
May 17 is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, though often better known by the acronym IDAHOBIT. The date is a global movement to raise awareness toward the struggles of LGBTQ+ members of the worldwide community, and promote equality and justice for those same individuals.
This is the second year that the Guild has hosted this cleanup, following the success of the first year to help keep the city clean and to hold space for the day as members of the LGBTQ+ community and staunch allies from the city and surrounding region.
The cleanup is open to all who might wish to attend. Those interested are asked to meet at Scherer Manor at 2 p.m. on Saturday, where they will clean up Finlay Bridge and the surrounding area.
