Softball roundup: U17 Thunder host ‘A’ tournament over weekend

The Medicine Hat U17 Thunder Rep were in tournament action over the weekend, getting to play at home.

The Thunder hosted a five-team tournament at the Medicine Hat Moose Diamonds. They kicked the weekend off with a 15-4 win Saturday doe the Lacombe Selects.

Gracie Eddy led the offence with four hits, tallying six RBIs and three run scored. Taryn Brost scored twice on two hits and Gracie Ulmer had two RBIs, scoring twice with a hit.

Ryleigh Jackiw started worked the first inning on the mound with three strikeouts. Kendall Smith pitched two innings, recording one strikeout and Brost finished the game with three punch-outs in two innings of work.

They lost 16-8 Saturday to the Calgary Kaizen. Adriene Campbell had three hits in the loss, with two RBIs and two runs scored. Jackiw scored twice, tallied two RBIs and a hit.

Campbell started the game on the mound, notching four strikeouts in three innings. Allie Evans threw three innings to finish the game.

The Thunder dropped a second game Saturday, falling 7-5 to the Calgary Adrenalie.

Evans had two runs scored with two hits, Eddy had two hits with two RBIs and Campbell had a pair of RBIs and runs scored with a hit.

Jackiw started the game, recording six strikeouts in three innings pitched. Campbell worked the last two innings with four strikeouts.

They finished the weekend off Sunday with a 12-5 loss to the Red Deer Rage.

Peightyn Williams had a pair of hits with a run scored and an RBI. Campbell started the game, working 1.2 innings with four strikeouts. Smith pitched 2.1 innings, recording three strikeouts and Brost worked the last two frames with a pair of strikeouts.

U15

The U15 Thunder Red and Black were part of the 31-team South Alberta Selects Series this weekend in Medicine Hat. A total of 31 teams from U11-17 divisions faced off at the Moose and Redcliff Diamonds.

The Thunder Black opened the weekend against the Lethbridge Heat, falling 12-5.

Samantha Rath and Hadley Vold each had a hit, RBI and a run scored in the loss. Addyson Darr started the game on the mound, with three strikeouts in three innings pitched. Vold worked 1.1 innings with three strikeouts.

Later in the day, the Thunder responded with a 12-5 win over Calgary Blue. Ryann Lewandowski had two hits with two RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Rath had a hit, RBI and a run scored. Darr scored three times with a hit and an RBI as well.

Lewandowski started the game, striking out six batters in three innings pitched. Janessa Weber struck out two batters in a lone inning pitched.

They opened play Sunday with an 11-7 loss to the YYC Elite.

Chloe Armstrong and Darr led Medicine Hat with a hit, RBI and a run scored each. Lewandowski threw 1.2 innings with three strikeouts. Darr worked the last two frames.

They finished the weekend off in a high-scoring affair, falling 19-14 to Consort.

Lewandowski had three hits, adding two RBIs and two runs scored, Armstrong had a pair of hits with three RBIs. Rath scored twice, with a hit and an RBI.

Weber started the game on the mound, recording a pair of outs. Lewandowski pitched the last 1.1 innings with a strikeout.

The U15 Thunder Red’s results were not available.

U13

Medicine Hat’s U13 Thunder Red, Black and White all played in the locally-held SASS tournament.

The Thunder Black swept the weekend, with a 10-2 win over Innisfail and a 13-10 victory over the YCC Elite on Saturday. They finished things off with a 20-7 win over YYC on Sunday and a 15-1 victory over the YYC Elite D the same day.

No individual results were available.

The Thunder White recorded three wins over the weekend.

Their lone loss came in the first contest, a 13-10 loss Saturday morning to the Heat.

Emily G had a pair of hits with an RBI and a run scored. Aria H scored twice, recording a hit and an RBI.

Julie G started the game on the mound, recording a strikeout in 1.2 innings pitched. Emery T had three strikeouts in two innings of work.

They responded with a 13-5 win Saturday over YYC. Jocelyn L had two runs scored with a hit and an RBI. Ella H, Kassid E and Makelti B each scored twice.

Makelti B also started the game on the mound, recording six strikeouts in two innings of work. Kassidy E pitched two frames with two strikeouts.

They continued the success with a 20-4 win Sunday over Lethbridge-2.

Arya G had three hits, tallying four RBIs and two runs scored. Karsynn Tscored three times, Lilah V had two runs scored with two hits and an RBI and all three of Emily G, Aria H and Makelti B scored twice.

Julie G started the game, recording three strikeouts in 1.1 innings. Emery T worked two innings, recording six strikeouts.

The Thunder White finished the weekend off with a 15-7 win over the YYC Elite D.

Emery T had two RBIs with two hits and a run scored, Arya G and Jocelyn L each had two runs scored with a hit, the latter adding an RBI. Lilah V and Julie G each had an RBI with a hit and a run scored.

Kassidy E worked three innings on the mound with six strikeouts. Makelti B had two strikeouts in an inning of work.

The Thunder Red also played four games, splitting the weekend.

They opened the weekend with a 20-5 win Saturday over YYC, scoring five runs in four straight innings.

Jovi L had a home run, finishing with three RBIs, two hits and a run scored. Trinity R, Madison B and Mahayla D each scored twice, adding two hits and an RBI.

Mahayla D worked two shutout innings with five strikeouts. Kenzie M finished the game, recording three strikeouts in 1.1 innings pitched.

The Thunder finished play Saturday with a 14-1 win over Innisfail.

Madison B had two runs scored with two hits and an RBI. Gwyn D and Scarlett M each had two runs scored with a hit and an RBI.

Alexis M pitched two innings with six strikeouts, Trinity R worked two frames with five strikeouts.

They lost 10-6 Sunday to the YYC Elite.

Jovi L had an RBI with a hit and a run scored, both Jada M and Scarlett M recording a hit and a run scored.

Gwyn D had four strikeouts in 1.2 innings pitched. Jada M worked the same amount of innings, recording a pair of strikeouts.

The Thunder White lost the last game of the weekend, falling 7-3 to Lethbridge.

Jovi L had a hit with an RBI and a run scored. Kellie C pitched all 2.2 innings for the Thunder, recording six strikeouts.

No last names were available for the U13 rosters.

U11

The Medicine Hat U11 Thunder Red and Black also took part in the SASS tournament.

The Thunder Red swept their weekend, kicking things off with an 8-4 win Saturday over the Lethbridge Heat.

Harlyn S and Campbell K each had two runs scored, two hits and two RBIs. Kayci M scored twice with two hits.

Leighton M and Marlee C each pitched two innings, both recording five strikeouts.

They trounced the Cranbrook Rays 16-0 later in the day. All but one of the Thunder hitters recorded a hit and all but one recorded a run scored.

Casey R had three RBIs with two hits and two runs scored. Marlee C had two RBIs with two hits and two runs scored. Both Macy G and Arya J had two hits, two RBIs and a run scored.

Kayci M and Harlyn S each pitched two innings and the pair each struck out six batters.

The Thunder Red beat the U11 Elite 13-2 on Sunday.

Charlie H had three RBIs with two hits and two runs scored. Khloe C had two hits with two runs scored and both Campbell K and Casey R had a hit with an RBI and a run scored.

Presley M pitched an inning with a strikeout. Leighton M recorded two strikeouts in two innings of work.

They finished the weekend with an 11-1 win over the U11 YYC.

Casey R had three RBIs with two hits and two runs scored. Both Jarlyn S and Campbell K had two hits with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs.

The Thunder sent four pitchers to the mound for an inning of work each. Charlie H had three strikeouts, Kyler G had a pair of punch outs and both Casey R and Marlee C had a strikeout.

The U11 Thunder Black picked up a pair of wins in their tournament weekend.

They had a 4-4 draw with the Duchess Jays on Saturday.

The Thunder then beat YYC 5-2 later in the day before topping the Cranbrook Ryas 7-6 on Sunday. They finished the weekend with a 10-9 loss to the Lethbridge Heat.

No individual stats were available for the Thunder Black, no last names available for the U11 teams.
