newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com Redcliff RCMP is reaching out to the public seeking any information surrounding the death of 38-year-old Clayton Martens, who was originally reported missing Jan. 18. On April 11 RCMP received a report of found human remains in a remote location in Cypress County. The remains were transported to the Calgary officer of the Chief Medical Examiner and have been positively identified as those of Martens. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has been deployed to assist with the ongoing investigation. Police say they are trying to determine the circumstances around Martens’ death, as well as how the deceased ended up in such a remote location. Martens was last seen on Jan. 14 around 10 a.m. at a residence in the area of Range Road No. 70 and Range Road No. 71. Martens was known to have shown interest in travelling to the area of Maple Creek, Sask., in an unknown mode of transportation.
