The Medicine Hat Speedway looks forward to the upcoming racing season with fresh initiatives, new partnerships and exciting fan experiences, all under the direction of a new executive board.
Les Neigum, newly elected president of MHARA, expressed his excitement about the organization’s future in a release.
“It’s an incredibly exciting time for the Medicine Hat Speedway,” Neigum said. “Our new leadership team is very go-forward minded and committed to growing this club and expanding the reach of this great sport. Thanks to the strength of our corporate partnerships, we’re able to keep bringing thrilling racing action to fans from near and far.
“We are proud to see drivers from across the region competing here, and we are truly grateful for the amazing support from our partners and volunteers who make it all possible.”
The Speedway has made some changes to race day for the 2025 season, which gets underway May 24 with the Minuteman Press/Cooper Rentals season opener.
A new start time for races will see cars hit the track earlier in the day, with all race days starting at 5 p.m. The June 21 demolition derby will start at 3 p.m., with Canadian Super Trucks racing later that day.
There’s a new VIP seating section in the Speedway’s Corona Tavern Tune-Up Terrace, with other improvements to the section.
There will be adult and kids prize giveaways at every race event, including a brand-new kids bike courtesy of Dunmore Auto Wreckers. Meet-and-greets with viral social media sensation ‘Whaat! Nooo Waaay’ guy at select race dates. They will feature two hit-to-pass events for even more high impact.
The Speedway has also rolled out new pricing for the season, with kids 10 and under getting in for $4.99, youth and seniors $14.99 and adults $19.99. A family fast pass for up to two adults and three youth/kids for $49.99. Season passes are $149.99 for the whole race season.
There are free kids tickets available at South Country Co-op Gas Bars in Medicine Hat, Dunmore and Redcliff, while supplies last. The MHARA says it is focused on packing the stands this season by offering affordable family outings. Beyond the race track, kids can also enjoy the Trukker’s Restaurant Playground located at the Speedway.
The Speedway says it is grateful for its team of more than 50 volunteers, who dedicate their time and passion to ensuring each race day runs smoothly.
Lorelle Halderman, MHARA’s business development and marketing manager, emphasized the critical role community support plays in the organization’s success.
“We couldn’t do it without our incredible volunteer co-ordinator, Nicole Stratton with the incredible volunteer recruitment and organization that she does and has done for years,” Halderman said. “And much gratitude to our strong corporate
partnerships – both new and existing. We are especially thrilled to welcome Gas King as our new official fuel force event staff partner. Their support directly enables us to continue staffing and supporting volunteer expenses – and that’s what keeps our wheels turning.”
