Next week Catholic schools in Medicine Hat will be extending their gratitude to school volunteers during National Volunteer Week.

Throughout the week the Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education is reminding students to take some time and thank all the volunteers who contribute to schools by helping in classrooms, organizing events, coaching teams, distributing hot lunches and supporting faith-based initiatives.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible volunteers who make a difference in our schools each and every day,” reads a press release. “We believe that education is a shared journey and our volunteers play a vital role in shaping the experience of our students.”

This year National Volunteer Week runs from April 27 to May 3 and highlights the impact and importance of individuals and collective volunteer efforts across the country.

This year’s theme ‘Volunteers Make Waves,’ aims to celebrate each small volunteer contribution who creates a ripple effect, or wave, that grows outwards larger, impacting the community.

“Waves swell with each generation of volunteers, our actions ripple out to broader community benefits, like improved well-being, increased social cohesion and enhanced resilience in the face of change and uncertainty,” reads a press release from Volunteer Canada.
