ROSALIE DREGER

ROSALIE DREGER 1949-2025
The family of Rosalie Ellen Dreger is saddened to share that she passed away suddenly and peacefully at her home on April 5th, 2025, at the age of 75 years.
Rosalie’s memory will live on in the hearts of her husband of 44 years Merlin Dreger, their 2 daughters; Jennifer (Joe) Larocque and their sons Vincent & Davis; Karla (Randy) Butterfield and their children Brea & Brady.
She will also be remembered and cherished by her sister Betty (Eddie) Jober; sister-in-law, Donna; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
Rosalie was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Helen Dolaney; brother, Bill; niece, Micki.
Rosie grew up on a farm in Daysland, Alberta with her parents Peter & Helen and her brother and sister Billy & Betty where she often talked about fond memories of family and neighbors gathering to play cards and feasting on Ukrainian dishes.
She met Merlin in 1978 at a Christmas dance at the base in Suffield and they later married in 1980 and had their 2 daughters. Rosie worked for Service Canada for 30 years and took pride in her job. She made many friends throughout her years there.
Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joys. She loved to spend as much time with them as possible and was often seen at the rinks watching her grandchildren play hockey and ringette. She rarely missed a chance to watch them and was so proud of them all.
Rosie loved to be busy and would gather with friends, go for lunches or suppers, get togethers to play cards, go to concerts and recently took up group exercise classes at the Veiner Centre.
She loved her friends like family, her most treasured friendships spanned decades.
Rosie’s beautiful yard was the envy of the neighborhood. She spent countless hours digging in her flowerbeds and was happy when spring finally came around so she could spend her time outside.
No one ever left her home with an empty heart or a hungry stomach. Only ever speaking the unfiltered truth and what was on her mind is what everyone loved about her. She will be truly missed.
There will be a celebration of life for Rosie on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, from 1-3pm at Desert Blume Golf Club.
Donations can be made to the Canadian Epilepsy Alliance.

RAE KNUTSON

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rachelle “Rae” Louise Knutson, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 71 years.
Born, raised, and deeply rooted in Medicine Hat, Rae was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She shared 52 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Don Knutson, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to their family.
Rae was a proud and devoted mother to Cari Knutson (Jason Hertz) and Kevin Knutson (Karen Knutson). Her greatest joy was being “Grandma” to her cherished grandchildren: Cooper and Coen Ryckman, and Emma and Abbey Knutson. Time spent with them was always her happiest.
Rae was predeceased by her loving parents, Jean and Mickey Moore, and is survived by her dear sisters, Betty O’Bray (Ralph O’Bray) and Heather Flinn (Pat Flinn), along with many extended family members and friends who were touched by her generous spirit and kind heart.
She dedicated 33 years of service as an Administrative Assistant with the Medicine Hat School District, working at several schools across the city. One of her most treasured experiences was working at her childhood elementary school, Vincent Massey, where she had the rare and joyful opportunity to work alongside her daughter while her grandsons attended the school. Her dedication, warmth, and genuine care left a lasting impression on students, staff, and families alike.
Rae and Don shared a love for the open road, spending many happy summers touring in their Corvette with friends and enjoying peaceful camping trips together. When the seasons changed, Rae embraced winter with the same energy staying active at the gym, enjoying curling at the Medicine Hat Curling Club, and cheering on her Medicine Hat Tigers.
She had a deep love for singing, art, and volunteering. Rae gave countless hours to the Root Cellar Food and Wellness Hub and the Santa Claus Fund, always ready with a warm smile and helping hands.
Above all, Rae will be remembered for the love she shared and the joy she brought to everyone around her. She truly was loved by all.
