Three people charged with drug trafficking following traffic stop

newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com Friday morning Medicine Hat police conducted a vehicle stop on the Trans-Canada Highway after observing that a licence plate on a vehicle did not match the registration. Once the officer approached the vehicle and began interacting with the driver and passengers, they noticed contraband cigarettes and drug paraphernalia in plain view. This resulted in the search of the vehicle where officers located an undisclosed amount of fentanyl. Police charged and arrested the three occupants in the vehicle who are all from Winnipeg, including a 34-year-old woman, a 36-year-old man and a 50-year-old man. All three have been charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking and possession of unmarked cigarettes and are currently being held for a Judicial Interim Hearing. 7-6
